WHAT YOU WILL DO


Job Purpose:

The Lead Maintenance Technician is responsible for the IPT maintenance jobs within the Sterile Biotech facility. This area includes Utility and Process equipment operation, Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) and Calibration activities, as well as other areas of the site as required.


Key Responsibilities:

Calibration and Maintenance

  • Support day-to-day shift activities, including planned and unplanned/emergency troubleshooting, and effectively hand over the shift with proper communication. Escalate issues to the supervisor, engineer, or maintenance manager, as necessary.

  • Ensuring that all measuring instruments are calibrated at regular intervals to maintain accuracy as per maintenance plans.

  • Technical Support: Assist/ Lead in the maintenance and troubleshooting of production systems and equipment in MEP aspects, ensuring optimal performance and compliance with industry standards.

  • Maintenance Planning: Support maintenance planning and preventative maintenance activities by completing planned and emergency work orders, calibrations, and preventive maintenance tasks.

  • Documentation: Accurately document all maintenance work, including upgrades, preventative maintenance performed, and parts used, to maintain comprehensive repair history records.

  • Equipment Operation: Operate and monitor production support equipment using PLC/ SCADA-based systems to ensure maximum equipment uptime and target outputs, while promoting continuous process improvements through Lean Principles.

  • System Troubleshooting: Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair complex systems, including CIP/ SIP, autoclaves, filling machines (comes with isolator), production vessels, automated visual inspection machine, as well as cleanroom supporting utilities were required such as HVAC, compressed gases, plant steam/condensate, clean utilities (WFI, purified water, pure steam) under minimal supervision in a highly regulated cGMP environment with minimal downtime and impact to production.

  • Provide technical support and assistance, including fault diagnosis, in close coordination with the maintenance team, process team, and external vendors to maximize the operation of process equipment. Initiate follow-up corrective actions to ensure continued safe and reliable plant operation.

  • Follow standard work instructions as per the preventive and corrective maintenance job plan, forms, and checklists.

  • Ensure that equipment breakdowns are resolved effectively and in a timely manner.

  • Carry out all maintenance tasks in accordance with quality and safety requirements.

  • Maintain housekeeping and 5S standards in maintenance work areas, ensuring compliance with fundamental SHE (Safety, Health, and Environment) requirements to protect people and company assets, and support solutions to improve asset utilization.

  • Conduct safety risk assessments and adhere to their instructions while performing maintenance tasks.

  • Perform and support real-time problem-solving on the shop floor and develop effective Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) to prevent the recurrence of events.


Site Equipment Contract Services

  • Support the execution of all Pharm plant equipment reliability and maintenance (R&M) service contracts, including mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, utilities, HVAC, and facility maintenance.

  • Execute calibration and maintenance activities with vendors and contractors.


SOP, Documentation, and Training

  • Ensure 100% completion of required training programs.

  • Support the development and revision of maintenance operation job aids and job plans.

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement, simplification, and optimization of documentation.

  • Conduct job training for new technicians as required.


Incident, Event, Deviation, Atypical, and OOT Investigations

  • Ensure all equipment Out of Tolerance (OOT) findings are documented appropriately and support investigations.


Financial Stewardship

  • Support maintenance cost optimization programs, including spare parts inventory levels and equipment breakdown management.


Quality

  • Ensure all planned and unplanned maintenance activities are completed according to established procedures, with all associated documentation completed to a high standard and in compliance with GMP and GDP standards.

  • Implement assigned corrective actions as documented following regulatory inspections and internal audits.

  • Support all assigned deviation, event, atypical, and customer complaint investigations, ensuring that any assigned actions are effectively implemented within the agreed timeframe to continually improve processes, prevent waste, and eliminate rework.


Safety, Health & Environment

  • Ensure that all daily activities are carried out in accordance with SHE requirements.

  • Demonstrate and promote SHE leadership behaviours, engaging employees and contractors at all levels on SHE issues.

  • Ensure that vendors and contractors perform maintenance work in compliance with SHE standards.


Self

  • Demonstrate leadership behaviour in alignment with company leadership standards.

  • Develop and update an annual personal action plan and Employee Development Plan (EDP) with their manager, aligned with the Performance Management Process as required.

  • Ensure operational knowledge and technical skills are maintained, improved, and compliant with assigned training and job requirements.


WHAT YOU MUST HAVE

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or Instrumentation Engineering, or a related technical field is often preferred.

  • An associate degree or diploma in Electrical or Instrumentation Technology may also be acceptable, especially with relevant experience.

  • Professional certifications related to electrical and instrumentation fields can be advantageous.


Instrumentation Skills:

  • Knowledge of instrumentation used in industrial processes, including sensors, transmitters, and control systems.

  • Experience with calibration and maintenance of instrumentation devices, such as pressure, weighing scale, temperature, flow, and level sensors.


Calibration Expertise:

  • Familiarity with calibration procedures and standards (e.g., ISO 17025).

  • Experience in performing calibration on electrical and instrumentation equipment, ensuring compliance with regulatory and quality standards.


Experience:

  • 6 to 8 years of maintenance experience in the manufacturing industry is preferred.

  • A minimum of 2-3 years in a Senior Technician position or demonstrated capability to successfully lead a team and resolve conflicts within a team.

  • Multi-skilled with demonstrated capability to coordinate work beyond one's own area of expertise.

  • Ability to propose improvements to processes based on technical expertise.


Role Requirements:

  • Job requires routine office working hours.

  • Must be flexible to work in 12-hour rotating (day/night) shifts as needed.
