Contexte et environnement

The Legal Intern will operate in a dynamic and fast-paced environment within TEGPA, where the legal team plays a critical role in supporting the company’s compliance, governance, and risk management efforts while ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and business objectives.


The Legal Intern will be exposed to a diverse range of legal matters, including contract law, regulatory compliance, and corporate governance. This environment offers an excellent opportunity to develop practical legal skills and gain insight into the functioning of an in-house legal department. The Legal Intern will work closely with the Head of Legal and other team members, benefiting from mentorship and hands-on experience in addressing complex legal challenges. The role also involves close collaboration with TEGPA’s trading and business development teams, providing the intern with hands-on exposure to the legal and commercial aspects of the company’s operations.

TotalEnergies Gas and Power Asia (TEGPA) is a leading energy company based in Singapore, specialising in the trading and marketing of liquefied natural gas (LNG), power and dry bulk products such as petcoke and sulphur across Asia-Pacific. TEGPA operates in both physical and derivatives markets and is deeply involved in short- and long-term contracts, reinforcing its position as a trusted partner in the energy sector.

TEGPA plays a pivotal role within the Gas and Power Trading (TGP) division, which forms part of TotalEnergies’ Gas, Renewables, and Power (GRP) segment. The company collaborates closely with TGP offices in Geneva and Houston, as well as the LNG Business unit in Paris, to drive integrated energy trading strategies. Additionally, TEGPA oversees the activities of its Australian affiliate, TotalEnergies Gas & Power Australia, further extending its influence in the region.

The position is based in Singapore, as a member of a dedicated legal team of three lawyers, one being the Head of Legal.


Activities

The Legal Intern will assist the legal team in various assignments which include:

  • reviewing, drafting and amending contractual documents related to the trading and business activities of TEGPA and its subsidiary/affiliates, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and internal policies
  • drafting and filing of company secretarial and governance documents, including board resolutions, meeting minutes, and statutory filings
  • preparing and coordinating regulatory licence applications and supporting the legal team in other regulatory matters
  • conducting detailed legal research and analysis to support the resolution of legal queries
  • updating, managing and improving TEGPA’s Contracts Register and internal contract electronic filing systems, ensuring accessibility and accuracy
  • performing ad hoc tasks and providing administrative support as requested by the supervising lawyer(s)
  • participating in the deployment of the Compliance program and supporting the compliance risk mapping
  • providing broad legal support to the Head of Legal to ensure the proper administration of corporate and administration functions
  • assisting in the development and refinement of TEGPA’s systems, policies and guides, with a focus on legal and regulatory issues
  • participating in training sessions, team meetings, and cross-departmental projects to gain broader exposure to TEGPA's legal and business operations

Profil du candidat

  • Currently pursuing a Law degree, with a strong academic track record and a demonstrated interest in corporate, regulatory, or commercial law
  • Excellent IT skills (Word, PDF, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Fluent in written and spoken English, with proficiency in an additional language being a plus.
  • A collaborative team player with strong organisational, time management and communication skills
  • Adaptability and willingness to learn, demonstrating a willingness to take on new challenges and adapt to a dynamic work environment
  • Strong work ethic and motivation, showing initiative and the ability to work independently when required
  • Meticulous attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and thoroughness in all assignments and deliverables
  • Availability for a longer internship period is highly desirable

TotalEnergies Gas and Power Asia (“TEGPA”) is focused on trading activities (in the physical and derivatives markets) in the Asia Pacific region with respect to LNG, gas & power and dry bulk products such as petcoke and sulphur, as well as business development activities in the same region with relation to those products. With respect to LNG, in addition to its long-term contracts for the purchase of LNG destined for the Asian market and its long-term sale contracts with Asian buyers, TEGPA is very active on the physical spot market. As part of the Trading Division in the Company’s Gas, Renewables and Power segment, TEGPA works closely with the Geneva Branch of TotalEnergies Gas & Power Limited and with the Gas Division’s head office teams in Paris. TEGPA also takes care of the activities of its affiliate in Australia, TEGPAu.
