Job Summary:

The Librarian is responsible for managing the library’s day-to-day operations, maintaining an organized collection of books and resources, assisting users in locating information, and promoting reading and research habits among students and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

• Organize, classify, and maintain all library materials (books, journals, magazines, digital resources, etc.)
• Assist students, teachers, and staff in finding and using library resources effectively
• Maintain a proper cataloging and circulation system
• Keep an updated record of library transactions (issue/return/register)
• Recommend and procure new books and learning materials based on users’ needs
• Conduct library orientation sessions and reading programs
• Ensure the library environment is quiet, welcoming, and conducive to learning
• Maintain library discipline and enforce library policies
• Manage digital resources and databases, if applicable
• Prepare monthly or annual reports on library usage and resources
• Coordinate with teachers to support classroom learning with library materials

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Library Science or Information Science
• Proven experience in managing a library (school/college/public) preferred
• Good knowledge of cataloging and classification systems (Dewey Decimal, etc.)
• Proficiency in library management software and computer literacy
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills

• Attention to detail and good record-keeping habits
• Creative approach to organizing reading and literacy activities

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience, as per industry standards.
