Candidates located in and able to work in the Ministry's Wellington office are preferred, but not essential for the right candidate.

The Manager, Contracts and Fund Management is a key leadership role and will contribute significantly to the Ministry delivering against government priorities of Attendance reform, Learning Support and Better use of Data. This is one of the larger contracts-focussed roles within central government agencies.
Responsibilities will focus on driving optimisation in the Ministry's investment in services and supports, with a clear focus on delivering and evidencing strategic outcomes. This is an opportunity to influence and maximise the investment in education services. You will work in a highly collaborative space with a focus on providing high quality advice and trusted implementation and delivery of key long-term strategies.

The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary based on their individual skills and experience.

To be successful in the role, you will be a capable leader, providing high-quality contracts management expertise. Your skillset will include strategic leadership and drive, and the ability to work in a results-driven and highly accountable environment. As a trusted advisor, you'll lead the provision of strategic contract and fund management advice.

You will bring the following competencies:

• Strong collaborative skills and a track record of achieving results through influence and partnership.
• People and operational leadership experience within a complex environment.
• Experience in building relationships and partnerships to achieve shared outcomes.
• Proven expertise in planning, reporting and risk management.
• Strong collaborative skills with senior leaders, business leads and project managers.
• The ability to design and develop contract and fund investment operating models.
• A leadership style that provides clear direction towards delivery outcomes.
• Systems expertise and effective use of reporting to inform decision making.
• Demonstrated experience of successful contracts programme management in the public sector.
• The ability to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.

About our group and team | Matau ropu ake

Te Mahau | Te Pae Aronui | Operations Integration - Te Pae Aronui connects people, knowledge, services, and regulatory processes to help shape an inclusive education system. Te Pae Aronui was established within Te Mahau to help drive a focus on equity throughout Te Tahuhu by connecting across the Ministry and providing expert support and services into the regions. Our group provides nationally consistent service design, practice guidance and systems to support the integrated teams led by Directors of Education providing flexible and responsive services. We deliver national resourcing functions, including inclusive learning support.
