About us
The Electricity Authority Te Mana Hiko is an independent Crown entity that regulates the electricity market. We are a kaitiaki of electricity, and our purpose is to enhance New Zealanders' lives, prosperity, and environment through electricity.
The electricity industry is at a pivotal moment, with the journey towards renewable energy sources and innovation reshaping how we operate. To meet these challenges and opportunities, we're evolving as an organisation - growing our capabilities, expanding our reach, and building a team ready to create a brighter, more sustainable future for Aotearoa. Our focus is on making a difference through bold thinking, collaboration, and delivering value for the communities we serve.
About the role
This newly created role offers an exciting opportunity to shape the Electricity Authority's engagement approach with industry and stakeholders. As Manager - Engagement, you'll lead a high-performing team committed to fostering meaningful relationships with key partners, including government agencies, industry participants, and consumer groups.
Reporting to the General Manager - Communication, Engagement and Data, you'll develop strategies and lead delivery of tactics to develop mutually beneficial relationships that enhance trust and confidence and support the Authority's objectives. You'll also collaborate closely with other senior leaders, including the Manager - Communications, to ensure alignment and integration across engagement activities.
Are you someone with the following?
- Proven leadership experience, with at least five years of mentoring, coaching and supporting teams to achieve tangible results
- Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
- A genuine passion for people and ability to develop authentic connections with a broad range of individuals and organisations
- A track record of delivering and leading stakeholder engagement strategies with measurable outcomes
- Exceptional relationship development and written and verbal communication skills
- A collaborative mindset and the ability to build and maintain effective relationships
- Experience leading through change and an ability to work in an agile environment
- Experience and/or knowledge of the energy sector, regulation or similarly complex sectors (advantageous)
If you're a dynamic leader with strong relationship-building skills, a strategic mindset, and a passion for making a difference, we'd love to hear from you
Why work for us?
We know the importance of maintaining a healthy work-life balance, and in recognition of this, the Authority offers several benefits to support our staff, including:
- Competitive remuneration: salary range between $178,244 - $222,806
- Generous leave allowances and flexible work arrangements.
- Ongoing training and professional development opportunities
- Career advancement pathways
- A range of health, wellbeing, and social initiatives, including EAP services, monthly wellbeing events, and much more
