About Innovaero
Innovaero is an Australian aerospace engineering and drone manufacturing company delivering advanced unmanned systems for defence and commercial customers. The company designs, builds, and flight-tests sophisticated unmanned aerial platforms and is entering a strong growth phase as programs, teams, and international activity expand.
Role Description
Innovaero is seeking hands-on Manufacturing / Production Engineers to help establish and scale the manufacture of advanced autonomous aerial systems.
Working closely with our Product Engineering, Production and Quality teams, you will help design and implement the manufacturing processes, equipment, tooling and production systems required to transition complex products from engineering development into repeatable serial manufacture.
The role will initially support the establishment of a new manufacturing facility and production capability for products incorporating mechanical, composite, electronic, propulsion and software-integrated systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop manufacturing processes and production methods for new and existing products.
- Design production layouts, workstations, tooling, jigs, fixtures and test equipment.
- Specify, evaluate, procure and commission manufacturing equipment.
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI), production ramp-up and transfer from engineering development into serial manufacture.
- Work with design engineers to improve products for manufacturability, assembly, testability and cost (DFM/DFA/DFT).
- Develop production routings, assembly sequences, labour standards and cycle-time estimates.
- Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation, work instructions, process specifications and production records.
- Support process qualification, validation and production-readiness activities.
- Establish appropriate process controls, traceability and manufacturing quality requirements.
- Undertake process capability studies, root-cause investigations and continuous-improvement activities.
- Support the introduction and effective use of ERP, MES and digital manufacturing systems.
- Work directly with production personnel to resolve manufacturing issues and progressively improve safety, quality, cost and throughput.
Note training will be provided on equipment where required.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Mechatronics, Aerospace or a related engineering discipline.
- 3+ years’ manufacturing engineering or industrialisation experience with complex engineered products; experience in scaled or serial production is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience turning engineering designs into practical, repeatable manufacturing processes.
- Strong practical engineering capability and a willingness to work directly on the production floor.
Experience in one or more of the following would be advantageous:
- Aerospace, defence, automotive, electronics or other complex product manufacturing.
- Composite manufacturing.
- Electronics integration and electromechanical assembly.
- New Product Introduction and production ramp-up.
- Production-line design, automation, tooling or industrial engineering.
- ERP and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
- AS9100 or similar regulated manufacturing environments.
Applicants must have full, permanent work rights in Australia. Applicants must be able to obtain National Police and other related security clearances that apply to the role.
