Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and organized Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will serve as the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional customer service while managing administrative tasks efficiently. This role requires familiarity with various electronic health record (EHR) systems, medical billing and coding, and strong communication skills to ensure smooth clinic operations and compliance with healthcare regulations. Prior experience in medical offices, dental clinics, or hospital settings is highly valued.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients professionally and manage patient check-in and check-out processes using EMR systems
- Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance verification procedures
- Schedule patient appointments accurately utilizing medical scheduling software
- Collect co-pays and outstanding balances through medical collection processes
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Review documentation for completeness and accuracy, including CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding, and care plan documentation
- Handle phone systems with professional phone etiquette to address patient inquiries and direct calls appropriately
- Assist with billing procedures including medical billing, coding, and documentation review
- Manage office administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and maintaining organized files
- Support front desk operations by managing patient intake forms, appointment confirmations, and follow-up communications
- Ensure a clean and welcoming environment for patients while adhering to infection control protocols
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a medical office setting or clinic environment, with knowledge of medical terminology and office management practices
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems platforms
- Knowledge of CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), insurance verification processes, and Medicare regulations
- Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and health information management software
- Excellent customer service skills with professional phone etiquette and bilingual abilities preferred but not required
- Ability to handle sensitive patient information in compliance with HIPAA standards
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation review and data entry tasks
- Previous experience in medical or hospital settings is a plus; familiarity with medical terminology is advantageous
