Job Summary
Busy Family Physicians' office is looking for a full-time Medical Receptionist.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors in person, screening for infection prevention procedures that may be required
- Maintain waiting room area and reception area including
- Answer incoming phone calls, emails and contact patients
- Screen calls, visitors and patients to determine nature of request or problem, seeking RPN/RN/MD advice before providing medical advice
- Process and distribute incoming documents that arrive by mail, fax, e-fax, email
- Manage PSSuite EMR schedule for physicians and TVFHT staff who work onsite: schedule, reschedule and cancel appointments; book meetings and events
- Enter and retrieve patient information fromTelus PS Suite Electronic Medical Record (EMR), ensuring privacy and confidentiality or personal health information within and outside the office
- Communication with other medical offices and health care facilities
- Communicate and implement office policies to patients
- Invoice and record payments for non-OHIP bills (including patients, insurance companies, lawyers, service canada and WSIB)
- Process and reconcile financial transactions
- Perform OHIP EDT Billing Transmission and Reconciliation, when required
- Maintain and update EMR address book
- Ensure patient OHIP Health Card information is kept up to date and valid
- Order and maintain office supplies
- Assist with related duties as needed
Qualifications
- Strong communication skills
- Vulnerable sector criminal record check
- Confirmation of immunization status consistent with Public Health Ontario guidelines for health care workers
- Telus PS Suite EMR experience is an asset
- Medical office experience or education is an asset
Job Type: Full-time
Ability to commute/relocate:
- St. Thomas, ON N5R 5J5: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)
