Description:
Key Responsibility Functions

Maintenance and Construction Duties

General garden maintenance i.e. Whipper snipping, edging, mowing and blowing
Repairs to footpath and kerb & channel, including removal and replacement of small lots.
Cleaning and repairs to urban drainage system, including pits.
Facility and asset cleaning including roadway/street maintenance and/or other cleaning as required.
Participate in Councils after hours duty phone and standby system.
The maintenance of strict confidentiality in any matter which may affect Council’s ability to negotiate effectively with suppliers and/or contractors.
Other duties as may be directed from time to time.

Plant and Equipment Operation and Maintenance

Operation of small plant i.e. Ride on mowers and associated plant and machinery
Ensure that daily routine maintenance on assigned plant and equipment is carried out; record and report any faults.
Ensure that all assigned plant and equipment is returned to a depot, or otherwise securely stored at end of shift
Undertake minor repairs to assigned plant and equipment.
Report daily, any observed damage to Council assets.

Skills and Experiences:

Selection Criteria

Experience in parks and gardens maintenance, landscaping or civil works
Ability to perform various tasks involving heavy lifting, climbing into high cabins of plant, climbing to secure loads, etc.
Experience in maintenance duties in urban roads, footpath, facilities, and/or drainage assets.
Experience in the operation and maintenance of specialized plant and equipment.
Understanding of traffic control device and planning requirements.
Understanding of OH&S guidelines.
