The Opportunity |Te kōwhiringa
We are looking for a Network Inspector to act as the ‘eyes and ears’ of the network. You’ll be responsible for the coordination of an effective and efficient network inspection regime of new assets, undertaking routine inspections to identify and record defects whilst monitoring maintenance works and cyclic patrol teams.
- Road inspections, recording fault defects and proposing suitable solutions
- Identification of risks and corrective actions where required
- Assist in the development of maintenance programmes and provide support to our maintenance team
- Direct cyclic crews to ensure works are completed efficiently and audit completed work with a focus on quality and safety
- Ensure project operations achieve a superior level of safety performance
- Provide support to the Contract Engineers and Network Custodian Respond to customer queries and cultivate relationships with key stakeholders
This is a full time, permanent opportunity based from our Taupō depot however due to the size of our network, we are open to applicants who are based anywhere between Tīrau and Tūrangi.

Along with your organised and systematic approach, you’ll have a proven track record in network inspection, fault identification and treatment selection, preferably within the maintenance roading industry. You will have the confidence to drive projects, manage relationships and activity to achieve targets.
We’d also value:
- A tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, or equivalent (desirable but not essential)
- Clear communication skills with the ability to build relationships with stakeholders.
- Experienced in RAMM software and PDA
- Shows willingness/provides solutions to assist with a “continual improvement” philosophy
- Commitment to a high standard of Health & Safety Must be self-motivated, energetic, proactive, and results-orientated with an ability to problem solve, plan, listen and make decisions.
