The School of Nursing in the Faculty of Education and Professional Studies at Nipissing University invites applications for a 12-month permanent Interprofessional Simulationist -Laboratory Instructor. The position will begin on August 1, 2025, to support the integration of theory and clinical knowledge through experiential simulation-based learning activities in our Interprofessional Simulation Centre. This position is located in North Bay, ON.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the team to continue developing Nipissing University’s Interprofessional Simulation Centre with an initial concentrated focus on supporting Nursing theory and clinical courses with plans to expand support to other disciplines (e.g., Education, Social Work).

The School of Nursing is one of the largest Schools in Nipissing University. The School focuses on quality undergraduate teaching and research while planning the establishment of a graduate program for nurses. The School of Nursing has a strong reputation for being student-centered and providing students with rich practice-based learning opportunities.

The successful candidate will have:

- A minimum of a Baccalaureate degree in nursing is required.

- A minimum of two years clinical experience is required.

- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) with no restrictions to practice is required.

- Experience in simulation-based education is an asset.

- Experience in interprofessional practice would also be considered an asset.

- A simulation education credential is considered an asset.

- A master’s degree in nursing or a health-related discipline is considered an asset.

The Interprofessional Simulationist’s responsibilities include simulation and laboratory instruction (e.g., high fidelity, immersive, virtual) and assessment, and design of simulation activities to support the learning outcomes of clinical and theory-based courses addressing the needs of the various Schools which utilize the Interprofessional Simulation Centre (ISC). The successful candidate will deliver and assess lab learning experiences connected to courses (e.g., instruction and demonstration of nursing skills); incorporate best practice (including design of simulation scenarios, pre-briefing and debriefing) and evidenced-based research in simulation program development with a focus on supporting concept based learning; design/co-design in collaboration with course instructors simulations, utilize various types of simulation fidelity and be familiar with computer technology; act as a resource person for independent student practice; and support hosting of internal and external partners doing simulation activities within the centre.

The annual salary will correspond with qualifications and experience and will follow the Nipissing University Faculty Association (NUFA) Full-time Academic Staff Bargaining Unit Collective Agreement.
