The Operations Engineer – Balance of Plant (BoP) is responsible for the operational availability of the foundations, secondary steel structures and subsea cables of Thor Offshore Windfarm. This implies the definition, implementation and optimisation of maintenance and servicing concepts, as well as organisation and implementation of necessary repair campaigns and retrofits, including management of corresponding service contracts.


About the role

  • Planning, coordinating, and supervising scheduled maintenance, servicing and repair works of the foundations (turbine monopiles and electrical offshore substation jacket structures and subsea conditions), secondary steel structures (including corrosion protection and welding inspections) and subsea cables (inter array and export cables), managing the associated risks, documentation, budget, spare parts inventory and procurement
  • Ensuring conformity with health, safety and environmental (HSE) standards, applicable laws and regulations and part of continuous improvement in this area
  • Monitoring the impact of the environment on the foundation structures with the help of Condition Monitoring Systems (CMS) as well as with the analysis of processed measurement data
  • Provide technical support to operations for all technical faults and damages. Conduct root cause analysis, develop repair strategies and coordinate and implement related campaigns, in collaboration with central expert teams
  • Managing service contracts and warranty claims with the asset manufacturers and service providers
  • Application of the computerized maintenance management systems SAP PM/MM in close collaboration with the site management team
  • Ensuring continuous improvement and optimization of maintenance and repair strategies, as well as identifying and realising synergies across the offshore fleet

Job requirements and experience

  • University degree in a technical discipline, mechanical – or civil engineering
  • Several years of work experience in the field of service and maintenance of offshore foundations, steel structures, subsea cables and subsea conditions
  • Knowledge and experience with Eurocode
  • Commercial understanding and experience in contract negotiations
  • Knowledge of SCADA systems, SAP PM/MM and MS-Office
  • Ability and fitness to work offshore as well as at height
  • Fluent written and spoken English and Danish
  • As this is a site-based role, we would like you to live within commuting distance of Thorsminde


About Thor


RWE is developing the largest offshore windfarm in Denmark to date, Thor, which will be built 22 kilometers off the coast of Thorsminde on the west coast of Jutland with a capacity of more than 1 GW. 72 units of Siemens Gamesa’s flagship SG 14-236 DD offshore wind turbines are planned to be installed. Once fully operational in 2027, Thor will produce green electricity to more than 1 million Danish households.
