Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Technician to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will assist in providing exceptional patient care within a busy ophthalmology practice. This role involves supporting ophthalmologists with diagnostic testing, patient education, and administrative tasks to ensure smooth clinic operations. Experience in medical office procedures, electronic medical records, and optical care is highly valued. The Ophthalmic Technician will play a vital role in enhancing patient experiences and supporting clinical workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic tests such as visual acuity assessments, intraocular pressure measurements, and slit-lamp examinations
  • Assist ophthalmologists during patient examinations and procedures
  • Manage patient flow by scheduling appointments and updating electronic medical records (EMR) systems like Epic
  • Provide patient education on eye health, treatment plans, and post-procedure care
  • Support front desk duties including check-in/check-out processes and insurance verification
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of exam rooms and diagnostic equipment
  • Assist with retail sales of optical products when necessary
  • Support pediatric patients with age-appropriate communication and care techniques
  • Document clinical findings accurately in EMR systems and ensure compliance with privacy regulations

Requirements

  • Prior experience in a medical office setting, preferably in ophthalmology or optometry
  • Knowledge of electronic medical records systems such as Epic or similar platforms
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology related to eye health and general healthcare
  • Excellent patient care skills with the ability to communicate effectively across diverse patient populations.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team and demonstrate professionalism at all times

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.00-$23.00 per hour

Expected hours: 32 – 38 per week
