Job Summary

Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive patient intake by gathering medical history and documenting symptoms accurately while ensuring compliance with HIPAA privacy regulations.
- Operate ophthalmic equipment
- Perform ophthalmic diagnostic tests including visual acuity assessments, intraocular pressure measurements, and slit-lamp examinations using aseptic technique.
- Measure and record lens power, using lensometers.
- Perform Manifest Refraction (MR) assessments using a Phoropter to accurately determine patients’ refractive errors and finalize prescriptions for corrective lenses.
- Manage electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Nextech to document patient encounters, test results, and treatment plans efficiently.
- Measure visual acuity, including near, distance, pinhole, or dynamic visual acuity, using appropriate tests.
- Familiar with visual field tests to measure field of vision.
- Administer topical ophthalmic or oral medications.
- Educate patients on eye health, medication instructions, and post-procedure care while demonstrating excellent patient care skills.
- Conduct ocular motility tests to measure function of eye muscles.
- Support front desk operations by scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and managing patient flow with retail math accuracy for billing purposes.

Qualifications
- Proven experience in medical office settings with a focus on ophthalmology or optometry preferred; clinic experience is highly valued.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology related to the eye and visual system.
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Nextech or similar platforms for accurate record keeping.
- Demonstrated ability to perform intake procedures, vital signs measurement, and optical testing with precision.
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations to safeguard patient confidentiality at all times.
- Some experience in medical billing and coding related to ophthalmic services is a plus.
