Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Counter Person to join our team at a KIRKS inventory stockroom located within a City of Detroit maintenance facility. In this role, you will be the first point of contact for maintenance technicians, providing exceptional service while identifiying job specific part needed to complete repairs and maintenance. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills and the ability to communicate effectively with customers and team members. A background in automotive and heavy duty parts is required. Familiarity with Freightliner, Mack, Hino, Ford, CAT, Elgin and Bomag is recommened, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers warmly and assist them with their inquiries.
• Properly identify the parts required for specific PM and repair work orders
• Manage sales transactions efficiently and accurately.
• Maintain accurate stock levels and ensure inventory is organized.
• Utilize CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) for tracking inventory and orders.
• Communicate effectively with team members to ensure smooth operations.
• Negotiate with suppliers to secure favorable terms when necessary.
• Use Excel for data entry and reporting tasks related to inventory management.

Requirements

• Proven experience in sales or customer service
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain order in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Familiarity with CMMS software is a plus.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for managing data and reports.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also being self-motivated.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 - $28.00 per hour
