Description:
As a Part-Time Payroll Administrator (30.4 hours or 4 days per week) at MUJI, you will be responsible for delivering accurate end-to-end payroll administration while ensuring compliance with Australian payroll legislation, employment standards, and the General Retail Industry Award. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Process and administer payroll accurately and on time, ensuring compliance with all legislatives, taxation, superannuation, and award requirements.
  • Maintain employee payroll records, timesheets, leave balances, and personnel data within HRIS and payroll systems, including Kronos (UKG) and ELMO.
  • Manage payroll-related activities including onboarding, employee variations, terminations, payroll reconciliations, and reporting.
  • Interpret and apply the Fair Work Act, National Employment Standards (NES), and General Retail Industry Award provisions to ensure payroll accuracy and compliance.
  • Respond to payroll enquiries from employees and managers, providing professional and timely support.
  • Assist with payroll audits, month-end reporting, STP reporting, and payroll compliance activities.
  • Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, controls, and system efficiencies.
  • Support HR administration activities as required, with payroll remaining the primary focus of the role.
Remuneration

This position is classified under the General Retail Industry Award - Level 6, with remuneration aligned to the applicable Award rate and the successful candidate's skills and experience.

Skills and Experiences:
  • 2+ years of dedicated Australian payroll experience, preferably in a medium-to-large retail or multi-site environment.
  • Strong knowledge of the Fair Work Act, National Employment Standards (NES), General Retail Industry Award, payroll taxation, superannuation, and Single Touch Payroll (STP) requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience processing high-volume payroll with a strong focus on accuracy, compliance, and meeting deadlines.
  • Qualifications in Payroll, Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Business Administration, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including payroll reconciliations, data analysis, and reporting.
  • Experience using ELMO and Kronos (UKG) or similar payroll and workforce management systems.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to identify and resolve payroll discrepancies.
  • Strong understanding of payroll confidentiality and data privacy requirements.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain payroll matters clearly and professionally.
  • A proactive and solutions-focused approach, with a commitment to continuous improvement and process excellence.
