The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity is available with the Catholic Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle for a People and Culture Coordinator to deliver essential administrative and coordination support to the People and Culture Business Partners and Director of People and Culture. This role offers hands-on experience across the full employee lifecycle, including managing P&C enquiries, leave processes, employment contracts, service recognition, reporting, and key people initiatives.
As the first point of contact for People and Culture enquiries, you will handle sensitive information with professionalism and play a key role in ensuring the efficient day-to-day operation of P&C services. This position is well suited to a proactive and adaptable P&C professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, effectively balances competing priorities, and brings strong judgement, discretion, and a customer-focused approach, while contributing to a values-driven organisation.

POSITION DESCRIPTION
The purpose of this position is to provide dedicated administrative support to the People & Culture Business Partners and Head of People and Culture, whilst gaining integral P&C exposure across a range of functions.
The incumbent commits to working within Work Health and Safety guidelines and Code of Conduct at all times whilst in the employ of the Catholic Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle.
Skills and Experiences:
EXPERIENCE/CRITERIA
- An all-rounder – the ability to be flexible and step in to operating in a variety of different Human Resource roles
- A good level of emotional intelligence and resilience.
- A high level of professionalism, confidentiality and the ability to exercise extreme discretion
- Strong communication influencing and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written accompanied by strong training and presentation skills
- Demonstrated understanding of change management and ability to personally adapt to a changing environment
- Ability to maintain a high volume and varied workload with completing demands and priorities with the provision of high-quality customer service.
- Degree in Human Resource Management or current enrolment and working towards a qualification in Human Resources
- Current Class C Driver’s Licence
