The Opportunity

This 12-month parental leave contract will lead with a customer centric ethos focused on seamless, compliant and high-quality HR administration. From onboarding to offboarding, and through the leadership of a small, dedicated team you will ensure managers and employees experience a responsive, positive, and professional service.

You will:

  • Mentor and guide the People Services team, supporting development and fostering a collaborative, high performing culture
  • Oversee the delivery of core HR operations including accurate and compliant onboarding, offboarding, employee variations, and HR data management
  • Manage the ‘HR Helpdesk’ ticketing system, owning Tier 1 enquiries through to satisfactory completion, allocating resources effectively to balance workloads and meet deadlines.
  • Coordinate the ongoing maintenance and optimisation of HR systems, HRIS (Cornerstone) and SharePoint
  • Ensure compliance with employment legislation, industrial instruments, and organisational policies
  • Work closely with Payroll and other internal stakeholders to ensure alignment and data accuracy
  • Ensure a collaborative, solutions-focused culture that values continuous improvement and professional growth
  • Prepare reporting for the Executive General Manager
  • Contribute to audits, risk assessments and compliance reviews as required
  • Contribute to P&C Projects as required

This opportunity suits a steady, hands-on People and Culture leader with strong operational HR expertise, who enjoys developing their team, maintaining structure and delivering reliable and prompt outcomes in a high-volume national environment.

About you:

As our People Services Manager, you are an experienced HR professional who has successfully led and developed an HR operations (or similar) team, or you’re an established HR Business Partner ready to step into your first leadership role.

  • At least 5+ years HR experience, including significant experience in HR operations, contracts and employment compliance
  • Structured, analytical and process-driven, with a focus on continuous improvement
  • A decisive leader who sets clear expectations, builds capability, and drives accountability within your team
  • Cool, calm, collected and confidential
  • A strong problem-solver with a system-thinking mindset
  • Comfortable managing small technical projects end to end
  • Advanced capability in Microsoft Excel, with the ability to analyse, interpret and present data effectively
  • A clear and confident written and verbal communicator

It would be advantageous if you also have:

  • Exposure in the backend of an HRIS platform
  • Experience operating in an SLA-driven or service desk-style environment
