The Personal Care Attendant (PCA) supports adults with disabilities by assisting with daily living activities, promoting independence, and ensuring the dignity and well-being of each individual. This role involves direct personal care, advocacy, and collaboration with healthcare staff to support individualized service plans. PCAs play a vital role in creating a respectful, supportive, and inclusive environment while maintaining clear documentation and communication. This position requires physical stamina, compassion, professionalism, and a strong commitment to upholding the rights of those served.

Job Duties:
- Ensure the dignity, privacy, and rights of each student are upheld at all times.
- Assist students with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, grooming, and mobility support to promote independence and well-being.
- Document daily activities, behavioral observations, incidents, and any changes in the student's health or behavior as required
- Maintain timely and clear communication with Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs) and other healthcare staff to address any health or behavioral concerns.
- Act as a strong advocate, ensuring that each student's rights are respected and they are treated fairly.
- Encourage and guide students to express their needs, preferences, and choices independently.
- Provide support in adhering to daily schedules, promoting consistency and engagement in planned activities.
- Contribute observations and feedback to help tailor service plans that address each student’s unique needs.
- Engage in regular communication to ensure consistent support and address any issues that arise.
- Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to stay informed on program updates and best practices.
- Other duties as requested.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and carry loads of 50 lbs. for short distances.
- Must be able to bend, sit and stand for long periods of time.
- Must be able to view a computer screen for documentation and communication purposes.
- Must be able to endure extended work periods in environments that include varying climates both cold and hot.
- Fine and gross motor skills are required for the use and maintenance of equipment and technology.
- Must be able to physically push and move individuals in wheelchairs as needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in caregiving, personal care or working with adults with disabilities preferred.
- CNA certification a plus.
- Must have CPR/First Aid certification.
- Valid California driver’s license, proof of insurance, or reliable means of personal transportation.
