Are you passionate about caring for seniors and making a difference in their daily lives? Beacon House Care Home is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Worker to join our team. We are especially looking for someone with strong cooking skills who can prepare nutritious, home-style Canadian meals that our residents will enjoy and look forward to.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve well-balanced Canadian meals, with attention to senior nutrition and soft-texture diets.
- Provide respectful and compassionate care to residents according to their individual care plans.
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including hygiene, grooming, dressing, bathing, toileting, mobility support, and feeding as required.
- Administer medications safely and accurately according to training and guidelines.
- Communicate effectively and patiently with residents, including those living with dementia, offering emotional support and reassurance.
- Perform light housekeeping duties to maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable environment.
- Monitor and report changes in residents’ physical, cognitive, or emotional condition to the Care Coordinator.
- Respond calmly and responsibly in emergency situations.
- Keep certifications and training updated as required.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a personal care home, hospital, or long-term care setting preferred.
- Previous cooking experience in a care home, hospital, or similar setting strongly preferred.
- Personal Care Worker course (must be completed within 3 months of employment).
- Medication Module (provided by Beacon House if not already completed).
- First Aid & CPR certification (can be completed within 3 months of employment).
- Food Safety certification (can be completed within 3 months of employment).
- Vulnerable Sector Police Check (within the last 3 years, no convictions).
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with patience and empathy for seniors.

Pay: $15.35-$16.00 per hour
