ROLE SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the National Sales Director, the Pricing Specialist is responsible for supporting pricing initiatives that help optimize profitability while maintaining market competitiveness. The role analyzes pricing, margins, and market trends, maintains pricing data and systems, and provides pricing recommendations to support sales, bids, contracts, and promotional activities. Working closely with Sales, Finance, Procurement, Marketing, and Operations, the Pricing Specialist contributes to pricing accuracy, reporting, process improvements, and the effective execution of pricing programs across the organization.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Pricing Analysis and Support

  • Analyze pricing across product categories and provide recommendations to support profitability and competitive positioning.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor pricing, and industry conditions.
  • Assist in annual and mid-year pricing reviews.
  • Prepare pricing analyses and recommendations for management review.
  • Support the implementation of pricing changes and initiatives.

Margin Analysis

  • Monitor gross margins by product, customer, region, and sales channel.
  • Identify opportunities to improve profitability through pricing optimization.
  • Analyze the financial impact of proposed pricing changes and discount programs.
  • Investigate margin variances and provide recommendations for corrective actions.

Customer & Sales Support

  • Collaborate with the sales team to support pricing guidelines and discount structures.
  • Provide pricing analysis and recommendations for major projects, bids, and customer contracts.
  • Support customer retention initiatives through competitive pricing analysis.
  • Develop and maintain pricing tools, templates, and resources for sales representatives.
  • Respond to pricing inquiries from internal stakeholders.

Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Maintain pricing databases and ensure pricing accuracy across systems.
  • Generate regular reports on pricing performance, margin trends, and profitability.
  • Analyze sales and pricing data to identify opportunities and potential risks.
  • Track and report on the effectiveness of pricing actions, promotions, and product initiatives.
  • Assist with data auditing and pricing validation activities.

Divalto System Administration

  • Maintain and update selling prices in the Divalto system on a monthly basis and as required due to market fluctuations.
  • Verify pricing changes are accurately entered and communicated to relevant stakeholders.
  • Assist with system testing and troubleshooting related to pricing data.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Sales, Finance, Warehouse, Procurement, and Marketing teams.
  • Participate in pricing review meetings and contribute analysis and recommendations.
  • Support the consistent application of company pricing policies and procedures.
  • Contribute pricing-related information to budgeting and planning activities.

Process Improvement

  • Support the development and maintenance of pricing procedures and controls.
  • Identify opportunities to improve pricing processes, reporting, and workflow efficiency.
  • Assist with pricing system enhancements and automation initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with company pricing standards and practices.

Marketing, Flyers & Promotions

  • Collaborate with Marketing and Sales to support flyer pricing, promotional activities, and special offers.
  • Coordinate pricing for buying group programs, customer promotions, and major sales events.
  • Work with vendors and Procurement to secure promotional pricing and discounts.
  • Validate promotional pricing accuracy before implementation.

Vendor & Product Support

  • Collaborate with Sales and Procurement teams regarding vendor pricing and product initiatives.
  • Assist in evaluating new vendor and product opportunities.
  • Monitor market developments that may impact product pricing and competitiveness.
  • Maintain vendor pricing documentation and related records.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Commerce, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Marketing or related field

Knowledge and Competencies

  • Minimum 2-5 years of experience in pricing, business analysis, sales support, finance, procurement, or a related analytical role.
  • Well versed in pricing strategy and methodologies (cost-plus, value-based, competitive pricing)
  • Strong understanding of ERP and pricing systems

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Financial and business acumen.
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to interpret and analyze large datasets.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
