Job Overview

DEKRA India Private Limited is looking for a Process Safety Experts having 10+ years of experience in process safety, risk and reliability for the role to be in India.

This role requires a safety, reliability, and risk management specialist who will contribute to the development of process safety excellence in India, manage projects and relationships with the existing and potential clientele.

As a leading technical specialist, he will be responsible to perform/guide risk assessments and reliability studies and conduct risk management training. As a project manager with sound commercial awareness, he will be required to manage the delivery of projects by efficient utilization of time, quality and cost. He will also be responsible for DEKRA-India’s growth by constantly seeking new opportunities and furthering the existing client relations.

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Process Safety Consultant/Engineer to join our dynamic team working on complex and challenging projects across the Oil & Gas, Refinery, Petrochemical, Chemical, and pharmaceutical sectors. This is an exciting opportunity to work with industry leaders and make a significant impact on safety and risk management for top-tier clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and conduct various process safety studies for greenfield and brownfield projects in Oil & Gas, Refinery, Chemical, Petrochemical, Pharma & etc sectors.
  • Lead and develop Quantitative Risk Assessments (QRA) for greenfield and brownfield projects.
  • Conduct and facilitate:
    • HAZID / HAZOP Studies
    • SIL Classification & Verification using exSILentia software
    • LOPA
    • PSM implementation. PSM systems in line with international standards (e.g., OSHA 29 CFR 1910.119, CCPS Guidelines, API RP 754).
    • Conduct gap assessments to identify deviations from regulatory and corporate process safety requirements.
    • Fire, Explosion & Toxic Release Consequence Analysis
    • 3D Fire & Gas Mapping Studies using Detect3D software
    • Occupied Building Risk Assessment (OBRA)
    • Facility Siting Studies
    • Emergency Response Planning (ERP)
    • Hazardous Area Classification (HAC)
    • ATEX Study
  • Develop and validate models using DNV PHAST, DNV SAFETI, Detect3D, and other industry-standard tools.
  • Experience in conducting PSCI Audit -Pharma Supply Chain Initiative (PSCI)
  • Prepare high-quality technical reports with practical, cost-effective safety recommendations.
  • Provide client-facing support, including presentations, workshops, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Support and mentor junior staff and build internal capabilities in risk assessment, fire & gas mapping, and SIL verification.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable standards: IEC 61882, IEC 61508/61511, API, NFPA, OISD, PESO, PNGRB, etc.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in chemical engineering, Process Safety, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 10+ years of experience in Process Safety and Risk Assessment.
  • Proven expertise in:
    • QRA tools: DNV PHAST, SAFETI
    • SIL verification: exSILentia
    • 3D F&G Mapping: Detect3D
  • Strong knowledge of relevant international standards and regulatory guidelines.
  • Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Strong interpersonal, presentation, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Willingness to travel based on project or client needs.
