Construction Project Manager
Horseshoe Hill Construction Inc. is a Canadian owned and operated construction firm specializing in Concrete Bridge Construction & Rehabilitation, Parking Garages and Other Specialty Work such as Waterproofing and Shotcrete Services. We are currently looking for an experienced Construction Project Manager to join our team and assist with our Western Region projects
The ideal candidate will harbor a passion for detail and time efficiency. The Project Manager’s job is to oversee each project from conception to the finished structure, interfacing with both construction professionals and the client. You must be willing to travel and work on job sites. The position offers benefits, competitive salary and paid time off. The job includes both hands-on and administrative duties.
Preference will be given to applicants who are able to show their strengths in the following areas;
Requires Attributes:
- 2 years min Experience in heavy civil construction with emphasis on bridge rehabilitations/replacements.
- Computer knowledge and efficiency, including Microsoft Office products Heavy BID Construction Software (HCSS), Outlook, and familiarity with tender management sites.
- Understands cost based risk analysis
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to multi-task
- Functions effectively as part of a team with Strong Delegation Skills
- Dependability and an ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality at all times.
- Good time management and organizational skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft programs, including Word, Excel, Outlook.
- Good organizational and communication skills.
- General knowledge of construction principles/practices required with experience on projects over 1 million dollars.
- Experienced dealing with subcontracts, subcontractors and/or self-performed work.
Education and Equivalent:
- Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent
- Certified Program Management Training
- Valid WHMIS GHS, Fall Protection, and First Aid Certification is an asset
The Successful Candidate would be responsible for, but not limited to the following:
- Ensuring all employees working with you adhere to our Corporate Health and Safety Program including policies and procedures
- Ensure, in conjunction with the Health and Safety Administration, that all job site hazards are identified, signs posted, and all other project safety requirements are met, including ECO and TAS plans required by contract
- Review and understand contract specifications and drawings
- Ensure we do what we say and get paid for what we do
- Ensure that all project management policies and procedures are adhered to and enforced including, but not limited to: daily diaries, change order management, purchase orders, project photos and schedule updates
- Ensure the pre-planning meetings are conducted prior to start-up of projects
- You will compile and monitor the construction schedules and update weekly
- In conjunction with the Superintendent complete a two (2) week look ahead schedule weekly
- In conjunction with the Superintendent ensure timely scheduling and delivery of all materials, equipment and subcontractors
- You will provide quantities and progress payments with the Owner’s Representative monthly and submit to Head Office for processing
- Project Managers are responsible to complete subcontractors’ payment certificates and submit to Head Office on a monthly basis for processing
- As a Project Manager you will ensure job costs are updated on a weekly basis
- Ensure weekly Health and Safety meetings are conducted and recorded with copies sent to our respective Health and Safety Administrator
- Prepare work to be estimated by gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents
- Identify labor, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents
- accomplish results in relation to contract negotiations and administrations and Vendor relationships/communication

Pay: $90,000.00-$120,000.00 per year
