Tailor Your Resume for this Job

Starting January/February 2026 we are searching for an engaging and creative Art Teacher who believes in the power of PLAY and has a passion for fostering curiosity and inquiry-based learning!

At International School of Billund, play is at the heart of everything we do, and as a PYP Visual Art Teacher, you’ll bring this philosophy to life every day in the Art room.

You’ll work with our young learners aged 5-11, helping them discover, explore and grow through the power of play and inquiry-driven learning.

The cover position runs from January/February 2026 to December 2026. (May be extended.) Interviews will be conducted as applications are received.

If you believe that creative chaos has its place, that sketchbooks hold stories, and that every child is an artist with ideas worth exploring, you may be the person we’re searching for.
We are looking for an Art Teacher who can:

BUILD RELATIONSHIPS

  • Create an art room atmosphere where children feel known, encouraged and inspired to take creative risks.
  • Build warm, respectful relationships that give students confidence to explore their ideas and artistic identities.
  • Foster a supportive studio culture in which every learner feels safe to play, experiment and express themselves.

DIFFERENTIATE IN TEACHING AND LEARNING

  • Design imaginative, inquiry-driven art experiences that connect to the PYP framework and our playful learning philosophy.
  • Introduce students to diverse artistic techniques, materials and processes—from drawing and sculpture to mixed media and digital expression.
  • Support students in exploring how artists communicate ideas, emotions and perspectives through visual language.
  • Differentiate meaningfully so that every learner—multilingual, neurodiverse or otherwise—can participate fully and flourish.

COLLABORATE AND INTEGRATE

  • Collaborate closely with homeroom teachers and fellow specialists to weave the arts into transdisciplinary units.
  • Use central ideas and lines of inquiry to create powerful links between art and wider learning across the school.
  • Contribute to creative projects that help students understand themselves as thinkers, makers and change agents.

ASSESS AND FEEDBACK

  • Use formative assessments to understand student progress in skills, concepts and creative decision-making.
  • Offer thoughtful, encouraging feedback that deepens reflection and nurtures artistic growth.
  • Support students in documenting their process, discussing their choices and celebrating their progress.

COMMUNICATE

  • Share the story of learning in the art studio with families and the school community.
  • Help students use the language of the learner profile and the arts to speak confidently about their work and creative thinking.

GROW PROFESSIONALLY

  • Engage in learning that strengthens both your artistic practice and your understanding of the PYP.
  • Reflect on your teaching, explore new approaches and stay curious about your craft.
  • Contribute to a collaborative, creative and innovative arts team.

IS THIS YOU?

You have:

  • A recognised teaching qualification, ideally with a specialisation in visual arts or art education.
  • Experience teaching art to primary-aged students, preferably in an inquiry-based or IB PYP context.
  • A commitment to nurturing creativity, imagination and student agency.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to create inclusive, inspiring learning environments.
  • Skill in supporting diverse learners, including multilingual and neurodiverse students.
  • A collaborative, open-minded approach and a passion for helping children grow as artists and individuals.

WHY JOIN US?

At ISB, creativity and play are woven into everything we do. We offer:

  • A vibrant, multicultural school community full of ideas and inspiration.
  • A supportive arts team that values experimentation, collaboration and professional growth.
  • Opportunities to explore, create and contribute to a rich, joyful visual arts programme.
  • Terms of employment according to the “Organizational agreement for teachers and Kindergarten leaders at private, independent primary schools, boarding schools and independent vocational schools” and “The joint agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Teachers’ Central Organization”.
