Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Recreation Aide to join our team in providing engaging activities and social opportunities for residents in a senior living or care facility. The ideal candidate will support residents' physical, emotional, and social well-being through organized recreational programs. Prior experience in assisted living, nursing home environments, or senior care is highly valued. This role offers a rewarding opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of seniors and individuals with disabilities, fostering a vibrant and inclusive community.
Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and facilitate recreational activities tailored to residents’ interests and abilities
- Assist residents with participation in activities, ensuring safety and engagement
- Support residents with mobility or cognitive challenges during activities, including those with dementia or other memory impairments
- Foster a welcoming environment that encourages social interaction and emotional well-being
- Collaborate with care staff to assess residents’ needs and preferences for recreational programming
- Maintain activity supplies and ensure the activity area is clean and organized
- Document resident participation and provide feedback on activity effectiveness
Skills
- Experience working with seniors in assisted living or nursing home settings is preferred
- Knowledge of dementia care, caregiving, and working with people with disabilities is advantageous
- Strong communication skills to effectively engage with residents, staff, and families
- Compassionate attitude with patience and understanding toward residents’ diverse needs
- Ability to organize engaging activities that promote physical movement, mental stimulation, and social interaction
- Flexibility to adapt activities based on individual resident capabilities and preferences
