If you have a passion for providing proactive healthcare, it doesn't get much earlier than Plunket. Join us as a Registered Nurse working predominantly in Mairangi Bay, please note, we work as a team so from time to time you may provide cover around the region. This is a permanent part time (0.8 FTE - 4 days a week) with some flexibility to consider which days you work.
Pay rates for our Registered Nurses are between $64,924 ($32.68 per hour) to $92,982 ($47.06 per hour) depending on experience.
Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity
Plunket Nurses assess the growth and development of tamariki and are trusted clinical advisors who walk alongside whānau - both the highs, and the challenges.
You will meet with whānau (both in home visits and in clinics) where you'll foster trusting relationships, and adopt a holistic approach to deliver culturally appropriate care in response to the individual needs of each of your clients.
Working in the community during a cost of living crisis means you will undoubtedly meet whānau who are facing significant challenges. Our clinical responsibilities co-exist with the need to deliver social support to ensure pēpi are being raised in safe and healthy homes. We offer 6 week orientation with ongoing preceptor support to help you find your feet.
He kōrero mōu | About you
Community Nursing requires a particular set of skills, you may start the day with 5 whānau booked in for visits, one whānau may cancel, another might be late, and the last appointment might present significant concerns and take longer than anticipated. So, you will need to be adaptable, resourceful, resilient and comfortable making decisions to ensure we maintain a high quality experience and minimise risks for our clients.
It is vital that you enjoy working with pēpi, however the majority of your interactions will be with caregivers. In order to deliver the right support, you'll need to have exceptional active listening skills, be able to ask questions tactfully. You will work with whānau from all walks of life.
With a growing Chinese population, being able to deliver care in Mandarin would be advantageous, however is not a requirement.
Ngā pukenga me tohunga Motuhake | Skills and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will:
- Be a Registered Nurse
- Hold or be able to obtain an Annual Practicing Certificate
- Hold a restricted or full clean NZ Drivers Licence
- Be committed to completing 12 month Post Graduate Certificate in Well Child Tamariki ora (we would cover the cost for this)
