About the Role
An exciting opportunity is available for a Registered Nurse to join Arotamariki – Paediatric Inpatient Ward based at Tauranga hospital in a fixed term, part-time (0.7FTE) role for up to 11 months, covering parental leave. This role offers 28 hours per week, including shift work, weekends, and public holidays.
Deliver care that is guided by Te Ao Māori knowledge and practices, ensuring Tamariki and whānau receive holistic, culturally responsive support. This position plays a vital role in implementing Toi Ora systems of care, helping to achieve Te Toi Ahorangi and Pae Ora. With support from Te Pare ō Toi, this role offers the chance to expand your clinical expertise while embedding Māori health values into everyday practice.

The Arotamariki Inpatient Service is a place of collaboration, growth, and meaningful impact, where every team member is committed to whānau-centred, kaupapa Māori care. Based in the beautiful Bay of Plenty, this role offers the opportunity to work within a supportive, culturally grounded team, backed by ongoing professional development and mentorship.
About you
An exceptionally courageous, passionate, and driven Registered Nurse who embodies manaakitanga and is dedicated to Te Tiriti ō Waitangi will thrive in this role. A desire to integrate Te Ao Māori into clinical practice is essential. What the successful candidate will bring:
- Current New Zealand Nursing Registration and Annual Practicing Certificate.
- Experience in paediatric nursing or a strong interest in working with tamariki and whānau.
- Commitment to Māori health equity and culturally responsive care.
- Ability to work rostered shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
- Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth.
- Experience in projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.
