About the Role

Step into the rewarding and dynamic world of neonatal care in our Level 2 Neonatal Unit based at Tauranga hospital. In Wahanga Piripoho – Neonatal Unit, you will provide high-dependency care for babies needing treatments such as CPAP, High Flow, TPN, and stabilization before transfer to NICU. Working collaboratively with a skilled multi-disciplinary team, you’ll deliver compassionate, family-focused care, ensuring the best possible outcomes during this critical time.

We are offering 3 part-time positions, offering a unique opportunity to gain valuable experience while making a difference in neonatal care.

Based in the sunny Bay of Plenty, this role offers professional fulfilment in a state-of-the-art unit while enjoying one of New Zealand’s most desirable regions. Our Neonatal Unit is a highly supportive environment, staffed by passionate and dedicated professionals, including nurses, doctors, healthcare assistants, and allied health teams. Together, we collaborate to provide top-quality care for our tiniest patients and their whānau, fostering an environment where both staff and families thrive.

About you

We are looking for Registered Nurses who are passionate about neonatal care and committed to excellence. Ideal candidates will bring:

  • Current Annual Practicing Certificate.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience as a Registered Nurse, with Neonatal care (preferred).
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and organizational abilities.
  • A commitment to delivering compassionate, family-centered care.
  • Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth.
  • Experience in projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.
