About the Role

Ward 29 may be the place for you.
You will use advanced patient assessment skills, provide heightened nursing vigilance, and use critical thinking and reasoning skills to deliver individualised and holistic nursing care. SHANA is a 5-beded, nurse-led unit staffed by two Registered Nurses, utilising high acuity monitoring.
We currently have a 0.8 FTE available to cover maternity leave, working rostered and rotating shifts. This role includes a comprehensive orientation package with ongoing support from clinical coaches and nurse educator.
About the Team/Service
Ward 29 is staffed by Registered Nurses who are supported by Health Care Assistants. Nurses work with the multi-disciplinary team including Senior Doctors (Consultants), Registrars and House Surgeons (Junior Doctors), Clinical Nurse Specialists, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Social Workers and Dietitians.
Within Ward 29 is also a five bedded high acuity nursing area, staffed by experienced Registered Nurses. This area cares for patients who need a higher level of monitoring and nursing intervention, but do not require ICU or HDU care. The focus is on advanced patient assessment, heightened nursing vigilance, with access to high acuity monitoring. The nurse-to-patient ratio within this area differs from that provided on the ward.

About you
Our successful applicant will need the following requirements:
- Minimum one year's recent surgical nursing experience as a New Zealand registered nurse.
- Advanced Analgesia, CVAD, Negative Pressure Wound Therapy and IV cannulation certifications (or working towards)
- Excellent communication skills: showing an ability to effectively work in collaboration with other health professionals and in a team environment
