We are looking for a reliable and customer-focused Retail Sales Assistant to join our busy hardware and homeware store. The successful candidate will assist customers, maintain product displays, handle stock, and support the smooth day-to-day running of the store. This role requires excellent customer service skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide friendly and knowledgeable assistance to customers in-store.
• Help customers locate products and offer advice on hardware and homeware items.
• Operate the cash register and process payments accurately.
• Replenish stock on shelves and ensure displays are tidy, organized, and well presented.
• Assist with receiving deliveries, checking stock, and storing items appropriately.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety standards throughout the store.
• Support promotional activities, product displays, and seasonal merchandising.
• Handle customer queries, returns, and complaints professionally.
• Work collaboratively with team members to meet sales and service targets.
• Follow store procedures for health & safety and security.

Skills and Experience

• Previous retail or customer service experience preferred.
• Interest or basic knowledge of hardware, DIY, or homeware products is an advantage.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work efficiently in a busy environment.
• Good numeracy skills and attention to detail.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team.
• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Comfortable lifting and moving stock when required.
