Job Overview

We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Salon Assistant to support our groomers and keep our salon running smoothly.

This position focuses on customer service, salon support, and cleaning, while also requiring dog bathing and drying. Candidates must be willing to handle both the hands-on pet care and the behind-the-scenes tasks that keep the salon professional and organized. Must love dogs—you’ll be around them all day!

We are a premier dog grooming salon dedicated to providing top-quality care with compassion and professionalism. You will play a key role in the dogs’ health and happiness, while also supporting their pet parents and helping prepare pets for their grooming sessions. For those who show consistency and dedication, there may be opportunities for training as a groomer in the future.

Responsibilities

• Welcome pet parents, handle check-ins/check-outs, and assist with scheduling
• Answer phones and provide friendly, professional customer service
• Operate the point-of-sale system to process transactions accurately
• Ensure the safety and comfort of all dogs during bathing and grooming prep, using gentle and appropriate restraint techniques when necessary
• Bathe and dry dogs safely and thoroughly under the direction of groomers
• Handle dogs with care to minimize stress and provide a positive grooming experience
• Maintain a clean and hygienic environment, including regular cleaning of bathing areas, kennels, floors, bowls, laundry, and equipment
• Restock supplies and keep the salon organized
• Report any health or behavioral concerns to management promptly
• Promote and recommend retail products that enhance pet care

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Valid driver’s license required
• Friendly, professional communication skills (in person, by phone, text, or email)
• Strong time management, multitasking ability, and reliability
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
• Willingness to learn about our products and services to better assist clients
• Commitment to keeping the salon clean, organized, and well-stocked
• Comfortable working around dog hair, dander, and cleaning products
• A genuine love for dogs and commitment to their well-being
• Previous experience working with dogs recommended
• Strong dog handling and body language skills
• Knowledge of basic pet care practices and grooming techniques is a plus
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs safely and perform physical tasks on your feet throughout the day
• Ability to work alternating weekend shifts

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
