JOB DESCRIPTION
Designation: School Librarian
Roles & Responsibilities
- To manage and maintain the school library, ensuring a well-organised and student-friendly environment.
- To maintain proper records of books, magazines, journals and other library resources.
- To issue and receive books in accordance with library rules and regulations.
- To ensure proper arrangement, classification and cataloguing of books.
- To encourage students to develop reading habits and a love for learning.
- To guide students and teachers in selecting appropriate books and reference materials.
- To maintain records of book circulation, stock verification and damaged or lost books.
- To ensure discipline, silence and cleanliness within the library.
- To regularly update library resources according to the academic requirements.
- To assist teachers and students in accessing educational and reference materials.
- To organise reading activities, book exhibitions and other library-related programmes.
- To maintain library registers, reports and digital records, wherever applicable.
- To ensure the safety and proper maintenance of all library resources.
- To perform any other duties assigned by the Principal or School Management.
Reporting Authority: Principal / Academic Coordinator.
Primary Objective: To promote a strong reading culture, provide effective access to learning resources and ensure the smooth and efficient functioning of the school library.
