Position Overview: PDILA is seeking a certified and compassionate Part-Time School Nurse to support the health and wellness of students in grades 2–5. This position plays a vital role in creating a safe and nurturing environment by addressing student health needs, supporting school-wide safety procedures, and fostering a culture of care. The ideal candidate will be dependable, proactive, and passionate about student well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct care to students for injuries, acute illness, and chronic health conditions.
• Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders and school policy.
• Maintain accurate health records in accordance with district, state, and federal requirements.
• Monitor immunization compliance and manage required health documentation.
• Assist with the development of individualized health care plans for students with specific needs.
• Respond to medical emergencies and coordinate with EMS or local healthcare providers as needed.
• Support wellness initiatives and educate staff, students, and families on basic health and hygiene.
• Collaborate with families, school staff, and local health agencies to support student needs.
• Ensure compliance with all HIPAA, FERPA, and school safety guidelines.
• Assist with COVID-19 protocols, if applicable, including contact tracing and reporting.

Attendance:

• Attends and remains at work regularly and adheres to policies and procedures regarding absenteeism and tardiness.
• Provides adequate notice to higher management with respect to vacation time and leave requests.

Dependability:

• Assumes responsibility for completing assigned work.
• Completes assigned work within deadlines in accordance with directives, policy, standards and prescribed procedures.

Qualifications:

• Current South Carolina licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
• Current CPR and First Aid Certification
• School nursing or pediatric experience preferred
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment
