Lafayette County has temporary summer positions available for Seasonal Maintenance Staff to assist in the repair and maintenance of County roadways with the Lafayette County Highway Department located in Darlington, WI. Starting pay is $17.00 per hour.

Position Summary: Perform manual labor and operate hand tools, motorized hand operated equipment and motor vehicles in the maintenance and repair of assigned roads and right of way. This may including operating a variety of vehicles (that do not require a Commercial Driver’s License) and various other types of maintenance and construction equipment.

Qualifications:

• Must be at least 16 years old
• Valid Wisconsin Driver’s License

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Knowledge of the techniques, methods, materials and equipment used in highway maintenance and improvement
• Knowledge of equipment repair and maintenance procedures
• Ability to move up to 60 lbs. repetitively
• Ability to read and understand written and oral instructions
• Ability to bend, lift and stoop to perform duties
• Ability to manipulate controls to operate equipment
• Ability to work well in teams of co-workers
• Ability to accept constructive criticism
• Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with others
