We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Database Administrator to join our Data & Analytics Platforms domain. You will be responsible for managing Oracle databases, by providing database services incorporating best practice design, development, delivery, and maintenance of database solutions to meet business needs.
This position can be based in either Auckland or Wellington based, and is a hybrid role with two days where you can work flexibly.

What are some day-to-day tasks the successful candidate in this role will complete?
- Manage and maintain the Banks databases through BAU work, monitoring, backups and recovery, continuous improvement and provide day-to-day technical support of BNZ Databases
- Mentor the team
- Help to formulate tactical approaches to meet BNZ strategic goals.
What is the team culture and environment like?

What projects / work will the candidate be working on now and into the next year?
The focus for this team will be Database upgrades, migrations and new database solutions and intergrations.
What is the most exciting thing about this opportunity?
This is a newly created senior opportunity where you will be helping to build a motivated team while guiding the direction of BNZs future database solutions.
What skills are required for this role?
- 5-10+ Years’ experience as DBA designing, developing and managing production databases.
- In-depth working knowledge and experience with Oracle, Preference will be given to candidates with knowledge across both platforms.
- Query optimization and performance tuning.
- Database Upgrades and Cloud Migration strategies.
- Scripting and Pipelines.
- Infrastructure knowledge in Linux/Unix
- A working knowledge of Agile development practices (Scrum or Kanban).
