Role Overview

Reporting to the Head of Internal Communications & Engagement, this is a newly created role that will encompass internal communications, employee engagement, and stakeholder management.

The Senior Manager, Internal Communications & Engagement will play a pivotal role in developing and delivering a comprehensive internal communications and engagement strategy, that brings our Better Futures strategy, our purpose and our values to life for employees.

You’ll lead strategic communications, people communications and our employee engagement strategy and action plans, to create meaningful connections between employees, HR, and the business, ensuring employee voices are heard and represented
Key Accountabilities:
1. Develop and implement our internal communications strategy and rhythm of business that integrates HR initiatives with the Group’s priorities and ensures alignment with our Better Futures strategy, purpose and values.
2. Design and deliver a multi-channel strategy to streamline communications and enhance employee engagement, with a focus on storytelling and two-way communication. Ensure the timely and consistent development and delivery of impactful communications across multiple channels, including employee town halls, leadership communications and our new employee engagement hub, Connect.
3. Collaborate with cross functional teams to establish consistency and alignment, with broader organisational narratives and brand identity.
4. Provide strategic oversight for internal communications campaigns, recognition programs, and events that enhance the employee experience.
5. Serve as the key point of contact for internal communications during major organisational transitions or changes.
6. Lead, mentor, and support Engagement Specialists in the execution of campaigns, digital content, and engagement initiatives.
7. Build a Community of Practice of communications and engagement leads, who can contribute to the development of great content and the delivery of impactful communications.
8. Design and manage employee engagement initiatives, fostering alignment with company culture, values, and objectives.
9. Plan and manage internal events, such as town halls, employee forums, and recognition programmes.
10. Establish mechanisms to amplify employee voice, such as engagement surveys, pulse checks, and forums, ensuring feedback informs organisational decisions.
11. Act as a trusted advisor to HRLT and leadership on communication and engagement strategies, helping navigate sensitive or complex topics.
12. Track and measure the effectiveness of communication and engagement strategies using analytics and feedback, continuously refining approaches to inform communications strategy.
What you will need to be successful in the role

  • 8+ years proven experience in internal communications, employee engagement, or a similar role, with a strong focus on digital channels.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and execute communication strategies that leverage technology and drive results.
  • Strong knowledge of digital platforms (e.g., intranet, email tools, apps) and their role in communication and engagement.
  • Experience in creating mechanisms for employee voice, such as surveys, focus groups, or interactive feedback tools, and using insights to inform decisions.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with experience creating content for diverse audiences and channels.
  • Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to align HR communications with corporate messaging.
  • A degree or professional qualification in Communications, Marketing, HR, or a related field.
  • A proven ability to measure and analyse the effectiveness of communication strategies and use data to continuously improve.
  • A digital-savvy communicator with a passion for leveraging technology to enhance employee engagement and communication.
  • Collaborative and empathetic, with a strong focus on listening and amplifying employee voices.
  • An innovative thinker who can creatively use channels and tools to tell compelling stories and foster connections.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Analytical, with the ability to translate data and employee feedback into actionable insights.
  • Adaptable and resilient, comfortable navigating complex and evolving environments.
