The opportunity - Te tūranga

As Senior Set Producer reporting to Executive Producer Breakfast, you will be responsible for setting up editorially strong and compelling content for the Breakfast show. This role will support Executive Producer Breakfast and the Planning Editor to lead a team of producers, reporters and presenters in the production of daily content for the Breakfast programme. This is a senior experienced leader within the Breakfast team.

Your focus will be

  • Contribute to the development of original, enterprise journalism by regularly offering content ideas.
  • Contribute to the success of the Breakfast programme by setting up, arranging and producing live interview segments.
  • Be across local and international news to make sure Breakfast has the latest and most relevant content for the audience.
  • With strong editorial experience you can identify compelling content for Breakfast.
  • Come up with innovative and creative ways to deliver content to the Breakfast audience.
  • Ensure every slot within Breakfast show is filled with the best content.

Hours for this role are Monday- Friday 12 -8pm

To be successful in this role, we are looking for the following

  • A good knowledge of the craft of making television using graphic elements and other treatments to tell a story the best way possible
  • A keen eye for up-and-coming stories and news topics that need highlighting.
  • Editorial experience and an understanding of media law.
  • Strong contacts across a range of sectors
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Sound and fast decision-making skills.
  • Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills.
  • Good general knowledge across industry.
