About Atreides
Atreides helps organisations transform complex datasets, autonomous systems and sensors into better operational tools. We provide high-fidelity data solutions, cloud compute and secure communication networks that enable customers to collect data and derive insights at the speed of relevance.
We are a fast-moving, high-performance startup
with teams across the Denmark, the UK, and the US. We value a diverse team and believe inclusion drives better performance. We trust our team with autonomy, believing it leads to better results and job satisfaction. With a mission-driven mindset and entrepreneurial spirit, we are building something new and helping unlock the power of data and technology to make the world safer, stronger and more prosperous.
Our team combines deep technical expertise with operational experience. We come from backgrounds in military operations, intelligence, law enforcement, cybersecurity and large multinationals. We are obsessed with building products that change how governments and global organisations protect themselves from adversaries and external threats.
Why Now?
This is an exciting time to join Atreides. We have recently secured major programme wins with European Defence customers and are building out our Copenhagen presence to deliver classified cloud infrastructure at scale. You will be joining at a pivotal growth stage with the opportunity to shape how we operate, influence technical direction, and grow with the company.
The Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Solutions Architect to contribute to the design and delivery of secure, scalable and resilient Microsoft Azure environments underpinning critical Defence-oriented platforms. In this senior role you will steer architectural decision-making, help mentor others in the engineering team and act as the technical authority when integrating novel capabilities into production systems. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary, globally distributed colleagues and stakeholders to shape mission-focused cloud capabilities that meet stringent security and performance demands. You will work closely with multidisciplinary, globally distributed colleagues and Danish Defence customers.
What Success Looks Like
In your first six months, you will have designed and deployed foundational Landing Zone architecture for at least one major programme, established infrastructure-as-code standards the team can build on, and begun mentoring engineers to raise the overall capability of the group. By twelve months, you will be the recognised technical authority for Azure architecture across our Danish operations.
Responsibilities
- Own the technical vision for Azure Landing Zones and related services, guiding the team through best-practice patterns, governance and security controls.
- Design secure, performant Azure solutions and plan modular Landing Zone topologies that deliver scalability, resilience and cost efficiency.
- Deploy and manage infrastructure using code (Bicep, Terraform or Pulumi), championing automation and repeatability.
- Direct implementation of CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, GitLab CI/CD) and drive automated testing and release practices.
- Lead integration of emerging capabilities – such as mobile platforms and zero-trust architectures – into legacy or hybrid estates.
- Chair design reviews, own architecture decisions and present options clearly to senior stakeholders and customers.
- Coach and develop a high-performing engineering team, allocating work effectively and fostering continuous improvement.
- Drive operational excellence through monitoring, capacity planning and cost control across cloud workloads.
- Collaborate with Defence partners, third-party vendors and internal teams to ensure solutions meet programme requirements and security mandates.
- Maintain architecture standards, patterns and run-books to support audit readiness, compliance and onboarding.
Expertise
- Substantial experience leading or supervising cloud architecture teams on large-scale Azure programmes.
- Deep knowledge of Azure architecture, infrastructure and engineering, including Landing Zone design and Azure Policy.
- Strong grounding in networking (VPNs, firewalls, routing, switching, ExpressRoute) and security-by-design principles.
- Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep or Pulumi) and modern DevOps toolchains.
- Excellent communication skills – you can explain complex technical concepts to both engineers and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience supporting Defence, intelligence or government clients, particularly in secure or classified environments.
- Eligibility for Danish SECRET clearance (Atreides will sponsor the vetting process for the right candidate).
- Right to work in Denmark (EU/EEA nationals or existing Danish work permit required due to Defence sector restrictions).
Certifications
Required:
- At least one of: AZ-104 (Azure Administrator), AZ-305 (Solutions Architect Expert) or equivalent demonstrated experience.
Nice to Have:
- AZ-400 (DevOps Engineer Expert).
- AZ-500 (Security Engineer Associate).
- AZ-700 (Network Engineer Associate).
- Experience with Pulumi and Python for infrastructure automation.
- CCNA or equivalent networking qualification.
- Working proficiency in Danish (useful for customer engagement but not essential).
While meeting all these criteria would be ideal, we understand that some candidates may meet most, but not all. If you are passionate, curious and ready to "work smart and get things done”, we would love to hear from you.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Competitive salary. Dependent on experience.
- Equity participation in a growing defence-tech company.
- Pension contribution.
- Private health, dental and vision insurance for you and your family.
- Flexible hybrid work environment.
- Annual professional development budget for training, certifications and conferences.
- Regular team off-sites and travel opportunities to work with colleagues across Europe and the US.
Interview Process
Our interview process typically includes an initial conversation with our talent team, a technical or competency-based interview, a practical exercise or case study, and a final conversation with leadership. We aim to move quickly and keep candidates informed throughout.
Atreides is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. We do not discriminate based on race, religion, colour, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status or disability status.
