Key Responsibilities
- Stock Ordering & Supplier Management
- Take full responsibility for ordering stock for your specific department (e.g. Grocery, Chilled, Confectionery, Tobacco, or Drinks).
- Analyse daily/weekly sales data to forecast demand and place accurate orders.
- Compare prices and deals across multiple suppliers to ensure the best possible margins and value for the store.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers and delivery drivers.
- Stock Control & Stock Taking
- Perform regular stock takes and maintain accurate stock records.
- Monitor stock levels, minimise waste, and reduce shrinkage.
- Identify slow-moving or overstocked items and adjust future orders accordingly.
- Cash Office Handling
- Manage the cash office during your shift, including cash handling, banking, and reconciliation.
- Ensure all cash, card, and contactless transactions are processed accurately and securely.
- Balance tills and prepare banking as required.
- Shift Leadership & Store Operations
- Run the shift according to SPAR standards, company policies, and employer expectations.
- Supervise and support team members on the shop floor.
- Ensure excellent customer service is delivered at all times.
- Maintain high standards of store cleanliness, merchandising, and presentation.
- Follow all health & safety, food safety, and licensing regulations.
Requirements
- Previous experience working in a convenience store, supermarket, or retail environment (SPAR experience is an advantage).
- Strong understanding of stock ordering, sales analysis, and supplier negotiations.
- Proven ability to manage cash office duties with high levels of accuracy and integrity.
- Good numerical skills and confidence working with figures.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
- Ability to lead and motivate a small team during your shift.
- Flexible availability, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.
- Must be eligible to work in Ireland (EU/EEA or valid work permit).
