Shipping And Receiving

SUMMARY
Swanton Welding is currently accepting internal applications for a Shipping & Receiving Clerk at our South Location in Griffin, GA.
This position is responsible for the full operation of the shipping and receiving department within a metal fabrication environment, ensuring accurate documentation, handling, and movement of materials and finished products ranging from small fabricated parts to large steel assemblies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain full responsibility for all inbound and outbound shipments, including verification, documentation, and organization.
• Prepare and process bills of lading, packing lists, and shipping paperwork.
• Inspect incoming materials for accuracy and condition; report discrepancies promptly.
• Package, wrap, and secure fabricated products of varying sizes for shipment per company and customer specifications.
• Build custom shipping crates, skids, or containers for large or irregularly shaped metal fabrications.
• Schedule and coordinate freight pickups and deliveries; communicate with carriers, suppliers, and internal departments.
• Operate forklifts and material-handling equipment safely.
• Support inventory control activities and perform cycle counts as required.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area following company safety and PPE standards

• KEY QUALIFICATIONS

• Strong organizational and documentation skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
• Ability to interpret work orders and shipping instructions.
• Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
• Forklift experience required; certification preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude for crate and packaging fabrication.
• Prior experience in shipping and receiving within a manufacturing or metal fabrication environment preferred.
