Dol Turf is a recognized leader in the sports turf industry as a full-service provider specializing in turf services, bespoke construction, restoration and management of sports fields, and golf courses.
We are currently looking for a full-time permanent Site Supervisor to join our growing team. Reporting to the General Manager, the Site Supervisor is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations on commercial and municipal landscape projects. This role ensures projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to high-quality standards. The Supervisor leads and motivates site crews, coordinates materials and equipment, and serves as the primary on-site contact for clients, subcontractors, and management. The incumbent must be able to successfully blend management, technical knowledge and strong communication skills.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Project Supervision & Execution
- Oversee all on-site activities including grading, hardscaping, planting, irrigation, and related work.
- Interpret landscape and construction drawings, specifications, and work orders to ensure compliance with project plans.
- Collaborates with Scheduler to coordinate crew assignments, subcontractors, materials, and equipment needs.
- Monitor project progress, resolve on-site issues, and report updates to management.
- Ensure adherence to design, quality, and workmanship standards.
- Serve as the on-site point of contact for clients, inspectors, and project managers.
- Communicate site progress, delays, or changes clearly and promptly to client and internal management team in a professional manner
- Manage the project budget by monitoring material and labor costs.
Leadership & Staff Management
- Supervise and mentor crew members, promoting teamwork, efficiency, and professionalism.
- Train new staff in proper work techniques, tool and machine use, and safety practices.
- Conduct daily site briefings and ensure all workers understand their tasks and responsibilities.
- Track employee hours, performance, and attendance on site.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Enforce compliance with Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and company safety policies.
- Conduct daily safety inspections and hazard assessments and maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site.
Administration & Reporting
- Maintain daily job logs, material usage records, and equipment maintenance reports.
- Assist with project cost tracking, time sheets, and change orders.
- Support management in estimating, scheduling, and project closeout tasks.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in landscape or construction site supervision. Golf and sports field construction preferred
- Diploma or certification in Turfgrass Management, Landscape Construction, Civil Construction, Horticulture, or related field (preferred).
- Proven experience of successfully managing multiple crews or projects simultaneously.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret landscape and construction drawings.
- Working knowledge of sports field and golf course management along with turf protocols.
- Proficient with basic construction tools, equipment, and materials.
- Sound understanding of grading, drainage, hardscape installation, and plant identification.
- Basic computer or mobile app proficiency for time tracking and reporting.
Licenses & Certifications
- Valid Ontario G driver’s license (AR or AZ an asset).
- Current First Aid/CPR and WHMIS certifications preferred
The incumbent will be required to provide a clean criminal background check at the offer stage.
Working Conditions
- Outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
- Physically demanding environment with lifting, bending, and operation of tools and machinery.
- Occasional overtime and weekend work during peak season.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $75,000.00-$82,000.00 per year
