About the role

All progress begins with pioneers. At Rio Tinto it begins with you.

We are looking for a Specialist – Procurement Sustainability to join our Performance and Assurance team, within the Policy, Process and Performance function, part of Global Procurement Strategy, Risk and Governance.

This is a job share opportunity (0.6 FTE) working three days per week, with one crossover day for handover and collaboration with your job-share partner. The role reports directly to the Manager, Performance and Assurance.

Your focus will be on delivering high-quality analysis, reporting and assurance related to sustainability in procurement. This includes supporting the integrity of supplier data, monitoring ESG-related performance, identifying risks, and contributing to process improvement initiatives.

You’ll work with a range of stakeholders across Procurement and other functional teams such as Human Rights, Environment, Climate Change and Risk, while working with the data, tools and processes that underpin how Procurement delivers on sustainability.

Key responsibilities

  • Contribute to sustainability-related procurement processes/initiatives (e.g. supplier surveys, ESG reporting, process improvements)

  • Support ESG performance tracking, assurance, reporting and continuous improvement in procurement

  • Maintain and improve communication channels and internal content related to procurement sustainability performance

  • Collaborate closely with your job share partner to deliver seamless, consistent outputs

What you’ll bring

To be successfully considered for this role, you will ideally have:

  • A relevant degree in commerce, sustainability, economics, engineering or similar

  • Solid understanding of procurement processes, preferably with exposure to ESG and risk themes

  • Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint and Word; Power BI or other visualisation experience is highly desirable

  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail

  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines

  • A collaborative approach and willingness to share, learn and contribute as part of a team

  • A good cultural fit with your job share partner, and the ability to work autonomously while staying connected

Where you will be working

Rio Tinto Procurement (RTP) provides supply chain services that deliver value to the Rio Tinto Group through end to end Category Management (strategy, strategic sourcing, and buying of goods and services and strategic customer, supplier and market management). Playing a fundamental role, value is achieved through uniformed processes, e-technology, increased corporate social responsibility and measurable saving for the Group.

This role is based in Perth, with flexibility around work arrangements.
