Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Stacker Operator / Heavy Equipment Operator to join our operations team. The role involves safely operating container reach stackers and cranes to load, unload, stack, and unstack Sea Can containers, coordinating yard movements, and ensuring efficient container handling. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating various heavy machinery, including cranes, Reach stacker container handler, to efficiently load, unload, and organize containers within a fast-paced trucking yard terminal.

Secondary School Diploma or equivalent experience

Duties

-Operate heavy equipment, mobile crane
-Operate heavy equipment such as reach stackers, cranes, and container handling equipment
-Load, unload, stack, and unstack Sea Can containers safely and efficiently
-Position containers in designated yard locations according to work plans
-Inspect equipment before, during, and after operation to ensure safe working condition
-Perform pre-operation and routine maintenance checks on heavy equipment
-Report mechanical issues, damage, or safety concerns to supervisors
-Follow workplace health and safety regulations and company policies
-Communicate with yard personnel, dispatchers, and truck drivers to coordinate container movements
-Maintain records of container handling activities and yard operations
-Work outdoors in a trucking or container yard environment
-Ensure proper securing and placement of containers
-Assist with general yard operations as required
-Use International Organization for Standardization (ISO) pattern joystick controls
-Clean and lubricate equipment and refill equipment tanks
-Measure distance, volume, length and weight
-Operate computer controlled equipment
-Understand the purpose, proper usage and information found on material safety data sheets (MSDS)
-Complete onboard and other logs
-Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment
-Prepare accident reports
-Secure special attachments to equipment
-Operate GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment
-Operate two-way radios and other communication equipment
-Perform minor repairs to equipment
-Transport and handle dangerous goods

Credentials/Certifications/Licenses
-Heavy Equipment Operator Trade Certification
-Driver's License (Class 1 or A)
-Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) Certificate
