This position reports to

Quality and Continuous Improvement Manag

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to lead the execution of supplier assessments, drive both corrective and preventive actions based on supplier maturity and performance levels. Each day, you will manage operational supplier quality, both on-site and off-site, ensuring the thorough execution of supplier qualification and development processes. You will also showcase your expertise by managing the supplier’s Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). The work model for the role is: onsite This role is contributing to the Power Protection product group in Napier. You will safeguard customers by using risk-based quality assurance methods and developing suppliers. You will qualify new and existing suppliers of materials and services, resolve supply quality issues, and prepare supplier claims. Additionally, you will enhance supplier capabilities and performance to reduce risks. You will be mainly accountable for: •Leading supplier performance evaluation and supplier quality development activities. Establishing and maintaining local supplier quality related procedures & practices. •Driving approval process for supplier parts, materials, and project subcontractor services, as applicable, involving collaboration with other functions/experts, encompassing activities like Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and product surveillance at supplier manufacturing sites. •Leading in promptly addressing supply issues related to quality, deliveries, non-compliant products, or project services. •Working together with buyers to engage suppliers and prepare claims cases when necessary. As part of our dynamic team, you will regularly collaborate with ABB Suppliers which will involve national and international travel.

Qualifications for the role

  • You are highly skilled in working with current industry quality management tools and methodologies in the manufacturing market.
  • You have 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally working as as a quality specialist with Power Electronic products.
  • Highly adept in using Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • You are passionate about managing complexity, planning, and implementing corrective and preventive actions that meet customer expectations, and effective at gaining collaboration and trust within organizations.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or a similar field. Lean Six Sigma green belt preferred.
  • You are at ease communicating in English.
