Promote participant independence with a trusted mental health and disability service provider
24/7 Residential/Outreach support- dual diagnosis & challenging behaviours
SCHADS Level 3. ($38.65-$41.45p/h) Permanent Part Time – Approx. 12 hours per week plus PM & Weekend loadings and salary packaging opportunities
About You
Are you passionate and motivated to improve the lives of those living with mental disorders? Can you resolve conflict & deal with practical issues to support others and achieve outcomes?
Additional attributes we are looking for include:
Previous experience and understanding in supporting individuals with mental health needs, particularly in managing challenging behaviours.
Demonstrates patience, emotional resilience, effective listening skills, and adaptable communication techniques.
Strong ability to advocate for others and develop sustainable support networks.
Capable of making a positive impact both independently and as part of a team to achieve common goals.
Resilient, with the ability to adapt to challenges and remain focused under pressure
Proficient in using IT systems on both computer and mobile platforms.
About the Role
We assist & support individuals (consumers) in their own homes and community to develop skills and abilities to gain independence to complete day to day tasks. Our goal is to enable rather than do, to promote independence, development and confidence of the individuals. Our success will enable them to have the voice and choice to thrive in their local communities.
This mental health Support Worker position is ideal for individuals who thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and are confident in thinking creatively and making quick, informed decisions. We’re looking for a proactive role model who can connect with others by building rapport through shared interests. The ideal candidate will have experience working with a range of behaviours and demonstrate strong communication skills.
The role entails:
Provide 1:1 or 2:1 support for consumers in residential, SIL and community settings
Meet the consumers’ needs according to established behavioural support plans
Developing professional relationships with consumers, their care team and others in the community
Providing accurate and timely case notes so that others can provide a consistent experience for consumers
Provide support to assist consumers to work towards their individual goals
Role model and engage consumers to partake in daily activities
This is a permanent part time (approx. 12 hours per week) opportunity located in Geelong. This is a 24/7 program and the potential shift times include 9am-5pm, 5pm-9am and 7am-2.00pm, 2.00pm-10.00pm. It is a requirement of this position to meet all compliance requirements concerning NDIS Work Screening, Working With Children's Check, work rights and possess a current & valid driver’s licence.
