Mō mātau | About us

As a proudly indigenous tertiary educator, ‘tauira success’ is our mission and ‘whānau transformation through education’ is our vision, guiding our commitment to delivering quality education programmes underpinned by Māori culture and values.

Mō tēnei mahi | About this job

Day to day, the Team Leader guides and inspires the Procurement team, based in Te Awamutu, to support our success as an educator by taking a value-for-money approach, being innovative, making and influencing decisions and ensuring the team are delivering robust, timely outcomes. This role also works cross-functionally with a range of internal and external stakeholders across Aotearoa, and is called upon as a subject matter expert.

With some new team members onboard and our “peak” season in full swing, you’ll join us at a time where you’ll be relied upon for sound advice, guidance and decision making. Besides supporting the team, you’ll also oversee contract review and negotiation, category planning and analysis, tender development and process management, and seek out opportunities for process improvements.

Mōu | About you

Success in this role will hinge on your capabilities as a procurement professional:

  • An in-depth understanding of contracts and contract management, end-to-end tender processes, and 3PL distribution functions.
  • Proven success leading small to medium sized teams.
  • Sound communication, influencing and negotiation skills.
  • The ability to build lasting, credible relationships with others.
  • Relevant qualifications and public sector procurement experience would be an advantage.

As a kaupapa Māori organisation, your willingness to participate in cultural activities and develop an understanding of Āhuatanga Māori (values, culture and tikanga) will be key.
