Position Overview:The Technical Trainer plays a key role in supporting Hanley Energy’s global training programme. Reporting to the Technical Training Manager, this role focuses on delivering high‑quality technical and product training, both internally and to external partners, and on developing clear, effective training materials to support consistent learning across regions.
This position suits someone who enjoys hands‑on technical work, clear communication, and international travel. The ideal candidate will have an electrical background or commissioning/controls experience combined with a passion for helping others develop their skills.
Who are we looking for?We’re looking for a practical, hands‑on Technical Trainer with solid experience in electrical, controls, or commissioning environments. You may have worked as an electrician, technician, or commissioning engineer, and you enjoy helping others learn—whether apprentices, new starters, or experienced technicians building new skills.
You can break down complex engineering principles into clear, simple explanations, using real‑world examples and demonstrations to make learning engaging and accessible. Your communication style is patient, supportive, and confident, and you take pride in helping people develop their competence safely and effectively.
You’re organised, reliable, and collaborative, with a positive approach to working with colleagues across Engineering, Commissioning, Product Management, and regional teams.

Job Type: Full-timeRoles and Responsibilities: Training Delivery

  • Deliver technical and product training to employees, service teams, partners, and customers.
  • Facilitate classroom, virtual, and on‑site practical training sessions.
  • Support hands‑on product demonstrations, equipment walk‑throughs, and competency assessments.
  • Provide follow‑up guidance, Q&A, and skills support after training sessions.
  • Lead the preparation of technical and learning assessment/certification documentation.
  • Engage with internal stakeholders to include quality, safety, and environmental requirements in training documentation.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure technical training meets business needs.
  • Maintain a dashboard of training metrics and records of technical training status for employees and partners.

Training Material Development

  • Create and update training materials including manuals, presentations, videos, and practical exercises.
  • Work with subject matter experts (Engineering, Commissioning, Product Management) to ensure content accuracy.
  • Standardise materials across global regions to ensure consistency in messaging and learning pathways.
  • Assist in building structured training modules aligned with the Hanley Energy technical career pathway.

Operational & Coordination Support

  • Assist with scheduling, record keeping, and certification documentation as required by the Technical Training Manager
  • Maintain accurate training records, attendance logs, and competency tracking dashboards.
  • Assist in preparing certification documentation and assessments.
  • Support continuous improvement of training processes, tools, and delivery methods.

Travel

  • Travel internationally to regional offices and client sites (typically 1 week at a time) to deliver on‑site training and support global rollout of new products or updates.

Qualifications

  • Electrical, Electronic, Mechatronics or Controls Engineering qualification (or equivalent experience).
  • Additional training qualifications or instructional experience desirable but not essential.

Experience

  • Practical experience in one or more of the following:
  • LV switchgear
  • Electrical installation
  • Commissioning
  • PLC/controls
  • Industrial automation
  • Experience delivering training or mentoring technicians is advantageous.

  • Confident in hands‑on demonstrations and troubleshooting.

  • Willingness to travel internationally as required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: €60,000.00-€75,000.00 per year
