JOB SUMMARY
Provide support to the nursery team by supervising and working with the tree maintenance crew, planting crew and loading crew. Report to and support Nursery Manager in developing processes that yield high quality trees.
DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
· Supervise, monitor and coordinate daily work activity of crews
· Explain / Teach work assignments
· Supervise team member’s work for quality and quantity
· Monitor crops for pests and diseases
· Monitor staff for work quality and inefficiencies throughout the day
· Monitor irrigation, soil moisture on a regular basis in each zone
· Teach, demonstrate and enforce safe work place
· Monitor equipment drivers to ensure safe operation
· Maintain stock of supplies
· Occasional operation of farm equipment
· Enforce cleanliness of farm and work areas
· Report any and all injuries to supervisor
· Notify any discipline problems to supervisor for attention
· Meet production goals, take pride in one’s work and achieve high degree of quality and service.
· All other duties assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
· 3 years of prior tree farm, nursery or greenhouse experience
· Bilingual
· Capable of assigning duties, training workers and giving feedback
· Familiar with tree maintenance and corrective pruning practices
· Strong work ethic and ability to work in nursery environment
Job Type: Full-time
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
