Our Combination Wash/Vacuum Truck Operator position consists of driving and operating our equipment to ensure customer cleaning requirements are met. You will be required to clean rail cars carrying various commodities, based out of our Calgary, AB shop but be willing to travel to various offsite locations including our Lethbridge shop. You must be able to perform small onsite maintenance and repairs as well as complete Mobile Tech tasks as assigned within the Mobile Operations Team.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Operating Vac unit and other equipment in a safe and professional manner.
• Maintaining up-to-date and accurate driver’s log.
• Working in all weather and road conditions, using off road communication systems
• Understanding load requirements, weigh scales and Transport Canada rules.
• Read and understand all blue prints
• Interacting with our customers and clients in a professional manner.
• Understanding the use of flagmen and spotters when necessary.
• Supervising the Swamper assigned to assist with excavation.
• Providing leadership and task delegation to the Swamper with coaching and mentoring.
• Ensuring Vac unit and components are in good working order at all times.
• Performing work on railcars when necessary including railcar tank entry, cleaning and vacuuming, working from heights, etc.
• Completing all required paperwork.
• Implementing mandatory safe work practices
• Any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Class 1 or minimum 3Q drivers’ license with clean personal drivers abstract
• 2-3 years’ experience operating a Vac truck
• Experience with safety, operation, maintenance procedures and manuals
• Must be bondable
• Must be medically and physically able to perform all duties of this position on an ongoing basis. Perform manual labor, including bending, stooping, reaching, carrying and lifting heavy objects weighing up to 22kg
• Must pass a drivers’ medical exam including eye exam
• Ability to problem solve (identify problems and determine steps to resolve)
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug & alcohol test
• Must be eligible to work in Canada
• Must be able to wear required PPE
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment
• Work extended hours when required
• Ability to travel (overnights required)
• Ability to work in extreme outdoor weather conditions

Job Type: Full-time

Schedule:

• 10 – 12 hour shift; Weekend availability required

Supplemental pay types:

• Overtime pay
