Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our dynamic veterinary team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care and the ability to provide support in both clinical and administrative settings. This role requires a blend of hands-on animal handling skills and knowledge of veterinary practices, making it perfect for individuals looking to advance their career in the veterinary field.
Duties
- Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and other medical procedures.
- Provide animal restraint during examinations and treatments to ensure safety for both staff and animals.
- Administer medications as prescribed by veterinarians, including injections and oral medications.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including kennels and treatment areas.
- Perform routine laboratory tests and assist with diagnostic imaging as needed.
- Handle dogs and cats with care, ensuring their comfort and safety.
- Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding pet care instructions and follow-up appointments.
- Manage front desk responsibilities, including scheduling appointments and processing patient records.
- Support animal husbandry practices by monitoring animal behavior, health, and welfare.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a veterinary clinic or similar environment is preferred.
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and critical care practices is essential.
- Experience with animal handling, restraint techniques, and medication administration is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with aseptic techniques and laboratory procedures is a plus.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with pet owners and team members.
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Kennel experience is advantageous but not mandatory.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $16.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
